Meet Pastor Eric

Pastor Eric has faithfully served Overgaard Baptist Church as Senior Pastor since September 2017. Prior to this role, he and his wife, Lori, served as church planting missionaries with the North American Mission Board for 12 years. With over 27 years of ministry experience, Pastor Eric has served in various capacities, including pastor, youth pastor, deacon, and Sunday School teacher. His dedication to pastoral care extends beyond the church, as he has also served as a chaplain in skilled nursing facilities, with hospice patients, and has worked extensively within the special needs community.

A passionate advocate for missions and pastoral care, Pastor Eric currently serves as the Association Mission Strategist for the Desert Pines Baptist Association. He also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Arizona Baptist Children's Services, where he continues to invest in the spiritual and practical needs of the community.

Pastor Eric is deeply committed to the expository preaching of God's Word and fostering healthy, meaningful relationships within the body of Christ. His passion for teaching and discipleship is a hallmark of his ministry.

Pastor Eric a graduate of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary holds a Bachelor of Biblical Studies, a Master of Theology in Christian Counseling, and a Doctor of Ministry in Christian Counseling. His extensive academic training, combined with his years of practical ministry, equips him to offer thoughtful and compassionate leadership to those he serves.

Beyond ministry, Pastor Eric enjoys spending time with his family, reading, cycling, playing the guitar, and enjoying the great outdoors.

He has been happily married to his wife, Lori, for 29 years. Together, they have five children, three of whom, through the gospel of Jesus Christ, are now safely in the arms of Jesus. Lori is a devoted wife and mother who enjoys hiking, homeschooling, and spending quality time with family. She also serves as a professional counselor with New Life Counseling. Lori holds a Bachelor of Theology, a Master of Theology in Christian Counseling, and a Doctor of Ministry in Christian Counseling.

Our Deacons

We are truly blessed to have three faithful men who serve as deacons at our church. Each of them is deeply committed to the spiritual health of our congregation and the well-being of our community. These men not only serve through the deacon ministry but are also actively involved in many other areas of service that reflect their unwavering dedication to Christ and His mission.

Terry Hopkins, Steve Richardson, and Rick Samon have each been a cherished part of our community for many years. Their leadership, selflessness, and servant hearts have made a profound impact on our church and the broader community. Whether through prayer, support for our church members, or countless acts of kindness, these men embody the spirit of service that is at the heart of our church family.

Their commitment to the Lord and His work inspires us all, and we are incredibly grateful for their tireless efforts to spread love, hope, and encouragement. Through their leadership, the church continues to grow in faith, unity, and compassion.

We are truly thankful for Terry, Steve, and Rick, and we thank God for their faithful service. Our church is better because of their leadership and dedication.
